Located west of Altona, this large brick and stone arch bridge crosses Walnut Creek along US-34.
Built in 1899, the bridge features two spans of brick and stone arch. Unlike other brick and stone arches, this bridge is mostly constructed with brick, with stone forming decorative features on the bridge.
Brick was commonly used to line stone arches, as it was durable and cheap. Depending on the location, it might have also been cheaper than stone.
Today, the arch is largely unchanged. Minor work has been done to the superstructure.
Overall, the bridge appears to be in good condition.
